North Africa Workshop, Cairo:

GEOSS Support for Decision-Making in the Coastal Zone: Managing and Mitigating the Impacts of Human Activities and Natural Hazards in the Coastal Zone

A workshop series organized by the GEO Coastal Zone Community of Practice

NORTH AFRICA WORKSHOP
Supporting Decision Making for an Integrated Coastal Zone Management along the Southern Mediterranean Coast
2010, Cairo, Egypt.

Venue: The choice of Cairo, Egypt's captial, as location for the Third Regional Workshop is motivated by the large difference in observational capabilities and decision support through observation-based research in the Mediterranean between the northern and southern coasts. These differences were identified in the First Regional Workshop as a major obstacle for improved basin-wide decision support. By convening this follow-up workshop in Cairo, it is hoped to bring together representatives of research labs and decision making in the southern Mediterranean in order to better understand the causes of these differences.

The workshop will take place in the Cairo Pyramisa Hotel in the City Center of Cairo.
