Updates on allocation of funding and pre-paid rooms to participants
Roy A. Watlington
reported that Jeremy Collymore would be able to come if funded. There was agreement that he should
be funded. should come if funded.
Doug Wilson
asked to forward the mail to GOOS in order to get the funding
for Jeremy Collymore started.

asked whether there are other persons who need funding.

mentioned two persons:
LaVerne E. Ragster, who is a Professor and former President at University of the Virgin Islands,

and Simon B. Jones-Hendrickson, who is a Former Ambassador from St Kitts to CARICOM and a
Professor of Economics at the University of the Virgin Islands. LaVerne Ragster is a biology. He also mentioned
that she has U.S. Citizenship, which might compromise the use of GOOS funding for her.
There was considerable discussion about the gap in biology and related disciplines.

There were no new issues concerning the local organization.

Workshop Program and Session Chairs
A draft workshop program is available at

Roy A. Watlington
proposed Simon B. Jones-Hendrickson to speak at the opening. He also suggested that she could
replace Paolo Nunes.
In session P1, Jeremy Collymore needs to be replaced since he is only available from day 2. It was suggested
to ask Joyceln Lance or his colleague Nicole Alleyne. Jeremy Collymore should then be included in program of
the last day.

reported that so far, CAST and CTO did not respond.

will continue to follow this up.

pointed out that is would not make too much sense to further wait for a response from CAST and rather
find somebody else to give the opening talk in Session P1.
