Coastal Zone Community of Practice (CZCP) of the Group on Earth Observations (GEO)

The Coastal Zone Community of Practice (CZCP) of the Group on Earth Observations (GEO) reviewed its work plan and its contribution to the GEO Work Plan Task SB-01 “Oceans and Society: Blue Planet.” One main activity is the designing, development, and implementation of a “Global Coastal Zone Information System” (GCZIS) and the concept for this system and its population through study cases was discussed. Other activities include demonstrators for monitoring systems for mangroves, coral reefs, and estuaries. Decadal sea level forecasting as an early warning system for rapid sea level rise is also a contribution of the CZCP to the GEO Task.
